Just as every Halloween for the past four years, a Saw film has been miraculously cranked out a year at a time just in time for the horror film releases. This year there was very few films, none even worth mentioning, (Watch Quarantine and tell me they are… and if you liked the new release of it… you should go else where for your reviews), and Saw is just shy of being in the same boat. There were small bits of the story to fill in the pieces and make Saw and Jigsaw seem a bit deeper, but any real information was already previously made understood in the fourth one. Granted th extent to how involved a certain officer was involved with the Jigsaw murders was not informed until this film, but it was pretty bland and there was no killer twists like the first.
This review will be short and sweet as there is not much to say that has not been said over the previous films. The point of the killings in this film were to make those stuck in the game realize why they are a drain on society and how they can change their ways. Rather than seemingly random victims Jigsaw decided to group together some rather shady people that made some moolah off their poor life choices. It’s not very hard for one to realize when someone is saying you are being a selfish prick… that it usually means you should work together. Clearly they must think their audience is a bit slow.
The 6th movie… yes number 6 will probably go as dead and dreary as the scream films. Unless they can make up for the past two films chances are the series is out cold.
Out of the Halloween films this year yes it’s sadly the best one out there, but your best bet is to stick with the classics. Even the Simpson’s special Treehouse of Horror… was pretty bland.
Those of you who’ve seen the film also know that there clearly will be additional films… for fucks sake if they go scifi and add either aliens or randomly go to space like the “Halloween” series has …. We’ve lost all faith in that movie ever getting a come back.
This film receives 2/5 burritos. ![]()
