Tutorial: Creating a cheap and easy Website (part two) Testing

tutorial

So you want to get a site but before you start investing money you being a logical individual would like to test out WordPress to see how it functions. The following article will explain the basic uses of WordPress, which you can try out for free by first creating a free Word Press blog. To create a Word Press free blog, just simply go to www.wordpress.com click on the large sign up button, put in some basic information and you are set. The free blog limits you to various themes and you can’t change very much on it, but it does allow you to use widgets and change the heading image.

For an example you can see how limited our free Word Press blog began, which clearly didn’t have nifty magazine front page (Yes, we are still working out the kinks, but we have been focusing more on content/doing stuff for our day job making faa.gov look pretty).

So you like the simple and easy to use system WordPress has in place? How could you not! Keep in mind this is not really what an advanced user would want to use, but it’s very easy to set up a site within a matter of hours and have your customers/clients work on their own site with ease.

That being said, we also offer personal assistance to those seeking more specific help with setting up these sites (for free, duh!) simply e-mail us at evolutionfreelancemedia@gmail.com. We can also recommend freelance specialists in graphics and more advanced Web design who can charge out the ass (probably kidding) to make your site professional looking.

Shown below are some of the features you will find on WordPress and what the desktop looks like

Keep in mind the above screen shot comes from our GoDaddy hosted WordPress site so there are going to be additional items shown here that are not provided on the free blog. Just as a suggestion, get a feel for how the free Word Press site works and see if you can get some sort of returning reader base. If people like your blog you can easily transfer almost every bit of information you create on the free site onto your hosted domain.

Our next tutorial will be a very quick and easy one, how to import your blog onto your hosted WordPress site. This will allow you to take any free or existing blog and move all of it’s articles over. Some comments and other information may be transferable and all of the free Word Press site is transferable.
