Yup, gamers are still nerds.
Previously we listed items to specifically get for your nerd, but now it’s for the gamers.Whether it’s for the little nephew who enjoys swearing at 40 year old virgins via Xbox Live or your boyfriend (sometimes girlfriend) who ignores you for hours on end playing Halo, the following list should help you buy an easy present for your gamer.
First things first, figure out what game system or systems they have. The last thing you need to do is buy the a computer game for their Wii, it just doesn’t work like that. Here are your options for the most current systems, if someone is requesting some retro or nostalgia games just ask the people at Gamestop.
Nintendo Wii

Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 Elite

Playstation 3 or the PS3
Assuming you can now tell the difference between what systems they have, the best way to figure out what game they can ignore you for weeks to come is by comparing what they already have.
The following games are on both Xbox 360 and the PS3
If they play this:

- Fallout 3, Oblivion or any RPG game.
Get them this:

Dragon Age Origins.
If they play one of these:

Battlefield Bad Company
Call of Duty 4

Halo 3
Get them this:

COD Modern Warfare 2
If they have a Wii get them either of these:

Mariokart Wii
Super Mario Wii
Play This suggests:

Left 4 Dead 2, Zombie killing goodness.
If the gamer has a PC, generally that means they can’t run the newest or coolest games since it costs a grand in upgrades to compete. Just in case they have a new PC, check out either Battlefield Bad Company 1943, Fallout 3 (now $5) or even Left 4 Dead 2.
These games are all based on the most popular selling items at the moment and it’s hard to disappoint when the masses all agree.
