In just a few short hours after we posted the information about the Koobface attack has now been locked down.

*Note: Please be careful when re-posting this article on Facebook, their security feature may think your account was hijacked because it contains the sites name. While this is good it’s preventing hijacked accounts from sending the link out, it also temporarily locked out mine.

The Koobface worm that was being spread throughout Facebook has been locked down by most search engines. If you search for the key words that were spread onto your Facebook account, there will now be a notice stating there was malware found on that page.

Suck on that, Koobface worm.

The quick response and from your help spreading our article has saved many people from being infected further. There may still be Facebook and Twitter accounts that are infected with this virus, but at least now the site can’t do any harm.

Remember, it’s always important to change your password at least twice a year, don’t download anything, especially if it claims to be a virus scanner and never trust people from over seas trying to give you a fortune of money. Unless it’s from us, because as you know, we love giving out weird and cool stuff.

Unfortunately we learned the hard way, Facebook is now deterring hijacked accounts that are spreading the GALEWHER.COM site. If you repost this article don’t be alarmed if you have to reactive your account, as nothing will be lost! Luckily Facebook’s security team is working hard to help reduce this issue.

Good work internet, we saved some people from destroying their computers, their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Now go read something brilliant from The Oatmeal. It defines our lives as a Web developer
