Google Fast Flip makes it easier to view online news sites while making them more like print magazines.
Google doesn’t state it in their about section for Fast Flip, but the idea could easily be user for quick article viewing on eReaders. As eReaders are becoming more prevalent on the market, new ideas like these will begin to converge as a higher demand for new features are requested.
According to Google, “Google Fast Flip is a web application that lets users discover and share news articles. It combines qualities of print and the Web, with the ability to “flip” through pages online as quickly as flipping through a magazine. It also enables users to follow friends and topics, discover new content and create their own custom magazines around searches.”
After browsing through articles a user may land upon one they choose to read, which will then open to the full online story. It’s not hard to imagine that Google could produce a full function app for this on eReaders for magazine viewing of all partnered sites.
Google is currently only testing Fast Flip with a page full of partners, but if the market calls for it’s use, they will then open the floor to more media outlets.
Personally, we feel the monthly magazine app idea is more efficient and economical for businesses. Speaking of, we will be pulling together our first Print editing of Play This for 2010. It will be free and print on demand friendly, so you can also transfer them to your iPhones or pdf reading smartphones. Honestly the more you complain, the sooner it will get done.
