iPad: Time To Get Your Pre-Order On, Or Not

The Apple iPad is now available for pre-orders in the US, but will anyone actually buy it?

If history repeats itself, and often times it does, the first generation iPad will not have a vast amount of pre-orders or sales until it’s second generation or a price drop.

You can pre-order it from Apple or Amazon.

Currently priced between $499 (Wi-Fi only 16GB) and $829 (Wi-Fi & 3G with 64GB) seems a bit to pricey according to social networking trends. Apple is also selling the pre-ordered iPad with free shipping and offering it’s usual leather bound protectors, the keyboard dock, MobileMe membership, wireless keyboard and even a VGA adapter to plug it into a TV (but there is no HD output so who cares). Those who pre-order it by mail or in-store can expect to receive their tablet on April 3.

brianseitz wait, i thght the iPad was at an unbelievable price. 6-700 bones is kinda ‘spensive. i bet half peeps end up dropping them too #dent #smash

RyanBarr I will not be pre-ordering the iPad with hopes that this turns into another iPhone price lowering fiasco shortly after launch.

techie_pro Why pre-order the iPad today? Wait until 1 week after it’s release when they drop the price.

As for those of you in the Europe, there is still no price chart available or expected release date.

biglime iPad now available for preorder – not in the UK they are not, we are still in the dark as to a price and a solid date

The most common trending idea from consumers interested in the iPad is that they will wait until the second generation or until there is a price drop.

TXVB …waiting for the poor iPad sales price drop.

shrop @theOJG True, but I think most iPad purchases will be the $499 flavor. Betting that will be very propular and a great pricepoint.

Will you be purchasing the Apple iPad?
