iPhone 4 official: On sale June 24, preorder on June 15

It's coming.

The iPhone 4 has been officially announced for shipment on June 24, iOS4 on June 21 and preorders start June 15.

iPhone 4 will cost $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32 GB. Shipping June 24, preorders June 15! For those who already have a 3GS under contract, you will be able to upgrade early.

iPad

Over 2 million iPads sold in 59 days, one sold every 3 seconds/

Now 8,500 native iPad apps are in the App Store. The iPad can run over 200,000 of the iPhone apps and over 35 million downloads of iPad apps, which works out to be about 17 apps per iPad.

iBooks

Getting a refresh, which allows you to create stickies or notepads. Now you can read and view PDF files, which will have its own bookshelf. The table of contents will show bookmarks and notes.

iPhone 4

  1. Front facing camera.

Camera(s)

5x Digital zoom, tap to focus and an LED flash on the back. The camera records HD video at 720p at 30 frames per second. 5 megapixel camera (let down). Front facing camera as well.

iMovie.

New features

Greatly increased the screen resolution of the iPhone 4. According to Jason Snell of Macworld, “The point here is that text on the iPhone 4 will be clearer than laser-printed text, because it’s 326 pixels per inch.”

According to Dan Moren of Macworld, “Retina display is 3.5 inch, but 960×640 display (4x time as much pixels [of the iPhone 3GS]); 326 ppi; 800:1 contrast ratio, which is 4x better than 3GS.”

FaceTime

  1. iOS4 will officially be using Bing search engine. Google will still be the default though.
  2. iOS4 will feature iAds starting July 1. $60 million have been committed from advertisers already, so be prepared for tons of popups on all iOS4 devices.
  3. The final-ish version of iOS4 is releasing today for developers. This means the official final version will be released to the public this month.
  4. iBooks will now sync all of your devices together wirelessly, so you can continue from the same spot, regardless of what device you are using.
  5. Netflix for the iPhone will be release free this summer. You will get the full Netflix experience and not have to pay any additional fees.
  6. Zynga games are coming to the iPhone in the form of apps. That means Farmville and Mafia wars. These apps will sync up with your Facebook information as well. You will now get push notifications for your withering crops. Having Zynga in the keynote is sort of a joke, right?
