Facebook copies Twitter’s user boxes

Yes, Twilight should never exist.

Facebook has taken note of Twitters breakout user boxes and has now implemented it with AJAX.

Twitter has been using the popup user boxes for months now, which essentially allows you to see a large image of the person, if you want to follow them and other basic features.

The same idea goes into the AJAX based popup box that appears when you mouseover a Facebook users name. Often times the thumbnail images of people can be quite small, and this helps increase that size.

For non-friends, it will allow you to either message the user or add them as a friend. Friends popup box will show mutual friends and the option to message them.

Do you think this is a useful tool, or just Facebook’s way of competing with Twitters innovation?
