Foo Fighters Embrace New Tech, Retweet Unreleased Music

Back in the days of Napster being illegal, bands like Metallica took their turn attempting to sue them for all they had. It’s now 2011 and smart phones basically grow on trees, which means rather than seeing lighters at concerts you see the warm glow of a phone. Some of these phones are probably even recording the concert, even though their tiny microphones are not quite yet capable of picking up the audio. Unless of course you are at a small venue. Maybe this is just filler text and the YouTube user 64Piddy is actually just smuggling HD video cameras into concerts.

Regardless, the Foo Fighters have an interesting approach to their social media strategies. A short question and 30 minutes later, the post received 3,500 Facebook likes and 400 comments. You see, sometimes you really don’t need to have a viral campaign. Just put it out there, and your fans will do the rest. Keep it simple.

Oh, and Pat Smear of Nirvana is back.
