Facebook has rolled out several new features this week, one of which affects users on and off site. The Facebook comment system previously in place forced users to press a button before a comment would be submitted; however, now you just hit the enter button. Though this would appear to be a very minor change, many people are having issues transitioning to the new system as it’s much easier to accidentally send a message rather than creating a line break.
Facebook was likely aware that users would have difficulties with this so they added the edit comment option, or what I would like to call the five second rule. After pressing enter to submit a comment, you have five seconds before it actually sends. If you want to edit it, simply mouse over the comment and click the X button. This will allow you to edit the comment.
For those who are not into hotkeys, now would be a great time to learn a few tricks. Previously users could hit enter to create a line break or space between text like you do in a word document. Now you have to hold Shift and Enter at the same time. See the video below for a better example on how to use the new comment system.
