Major Flaw

A major flaw on Twitter was revealed today, which resulted in letting you force anyone to follow you, now corrected.

Who would have thought that tweeting would in turn cause a code to run through Twitters system, something as simple as saying “accept USERNAME”. In a matter of minutes after Gizmodo, Mashable and various other sites released this information, Twitter users began to abuse this system and quickly force numerous celebrities to force them to follow.

Oh look, Biz Stone and Conan O Brien all follow me now.

Yes, even the creator of Twitter was easily abused by this mishap, which quickly resulted in maintenance on Twitter, which reset everyones followers and following lists to 0.

Lists do show up normally however, but the followers count will more than likely remain at 0 until they can revert the database to a previous number, before the security flaw was so widely released.

Massive fail. You would think they have someone on staff constantly keeping an eye on tech sites.

In our attempt to alert some large techie players like Kevin Pereira of G4TV, we used the exploit for good. Sorry in advance for forcing the follow @kpereira and @biz.

We did force @annoyingorange to follow us to annoy him though, take that sucka!

[Update] 2 pm: Twitter has already resolved the issue, but the forced followers still remain, you know, until they block you. TechCrunch was the first site to find this flaw, with Gizmodo and Mashable following behind shortly after.

Oops Apple did it again!

Apple’s iTunes store dropped the ball again but this time it shows unreleased HD games for the iPad.

The iPad will be released to the general U.S. public on April 3, but their site already shows various HD versions of iPhone games that are created for the iPad.

Although there have been various mentions of what games have already been developed for the iPad, Worms was not among them until now. Additionally Plants vs. Zombies also shows an HD iPad version.

Although you can’t currently download them through iTunes, which results in “The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the US store,” they are clearly on Apple’s Website.

Apple has had many mix up with early releases and information leaks in the past. Earlier this month Andrew W.K.’s two disc album was released nearly two weeks earlier then it was supposed to.

Holy Super Awesome Apple Technology Batman! Oh wait, it’s actually garbage.So you know that thing that Apply Fanboys are now drooling over, the iPad? The $499 tablet is supposed to make waves as a new form of between computer and cell phone technology, but wait, it costs more?

A decent laptop will cost under $400, have a cd-rom drive and USB ports. Oh they also let you multi task, view Flash Websites and already have a built in keyboard.

Will there be any real use for the tablet? Sure, but not for the base price of $499. The iPhone costs around $200 (ignore the monthly cost, the addiction is worth it), allows you to do generally everything the tablet does and makes phone calls.

Let’s make a comparison chart between the iPhone, the tablet and a basic laptop or netbook.

Aww, I guess I suck after all.

The first reports are in on the common users feelings toward the Nexus One, who generally feel it blows.The basic functions of the phone, ya know making calls, seems to be failing at an alarming rate in every area it’s available. According to an article from the BBC, the basic transferring of contacts from your old phone to the new one also doesn’t seem to work well either.

Almost 500 people have logged problems with the Nexus One’s support for 3G wireless networks. Others reported bugs when synchronising contacts or getting the handset to work with existing Google accounts.

The largest issue in the U.S. being reported is that it will remain stuck on the 2G coverage from T-mobile, which Google has acknowledged to be an issue.

The result in only 2G coverage nation wide? Thousands of complaints and trouble shooting requests being phoned into T-mobile. Unfortunately this is a Google related issue, so all of these callers are being pointed to contact Google via e-mails and have no dedicated help line.

Additionally, the so to be said low cost of the phone is manufactured for only $175 per unit, meaning the price tag of $500 is a extremely high mark up.

This being Google’s first official phone was bound to have more issues arise as it finally hit the market, but will more than likely be fixed in the up coming weeks.

CVS

A 5 ¢ tax is now in effect  for each bag used in a purchase in Washington DC, fail to follow.While the idea was smart, to tax people who have not yet got on the recyclable band wagon for grocery bags, the implementation is currently a flop. U-scan or Smart-scan isles at grocery stores (CVS in particular) currently have an honor system in place if you are to use bags.

After purchasing your items, the U-scan machine will ask you how many bags you will be using. The machine will then charge you for the appropriate amount of bags used. A person could just as easily hit zero instead of the actual amount used, granted they’d really have to be cheap.

Issues with this tax: Price of bags are already built into the cost of products at the store and this tax can easily be bypassed.

Solution: Tax rebate for those who use recyclable bags or give them away for free.

Giggidy

As of the last few weeks some users on Facebook have been given a maintenance sign in error stating: “Account Unavailable Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

This seems to be a common error some individuals as they were upgrading certain servers. Sadly your latest information will be lost and your privacy settings will be defaulted. There is no real reason provided from Facebook, but most accounts should start to come back online in the next few days.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience; an extended technical issue affected a small number of Facebook accounts, including yours. We have done our best to restore your account to its most recent state, but some data and settings may not be current. In order to be cautious, we defaulted some of your privacy settings to their most restrictive settings. You may wish to review your privacy settings and reset them. In addition, some of your content may not be up to date. This includes:

* Photos or content you may have recently added or deleted.
* Friends you may have recently added or removed.
* Other content you’ve added, sent, received, or posted.

All of Facebook’s features are working, and you will be able to communicate and share information with your friends just like before. We recommend double checking your settings, applications, friend list, etc. to make sure everything is in order. We appreciate your support of Facebook and are taking steps to ensure these sorts of problems do not happen again.
